Two affordable homes for key workers in the village of Glenmore, the heart of the Cairngorms National park. The houses were designed to be appropriate to its setting, demonstrate sustainable building techniques and to provide an important asset for the community for the future.
The development was built to very high environmental standards, using timber sourced from Scotland, components principally sourced from the UK and achieving the equivalent of an EcoHomes Very Good rating. The building is exceptionally well insulated, incorporates draught lobbies to minimise heat loss, uses rainwater harvesting and low water use toilets, taps and showers. There are multi-fuel stoves to heat the main living rooms.
