We have been working with partners Ayrshire Housing to monitor existing conditions in a no-fines terraced flats in Girvan, South Ayrshire prior to refurbishment. What we have learnt about energy use, comfort, indoor air quality as well as the building fabric allowed us to adjust and improve our own proposals for the EWI refurbishment of these two blocks using enhanced airtightness and thermal-bridge-free details as well as enhanced ventilation specifications to safeguard internal air quality. SAP calculations were prepared along with EESSH compliance calculations. Works on the 39 flats are due to start March 2017 and our partnership arrangement with Ayrshire Housing means we will be monitoring the completed works to ensure anticipated savings and improvements have been realised.
