What we do

John Gilbert Architects is a Glasgow-based design studio, passionate about designing places for people and the planet.

Experts in ecological, low carbon development designed with the community, we undertake design work from a strategic level to detailed architecture with creativity, enthusiasm and knowledge. We have been at the forefront of the social and community sector for over 20 years delivering award-winning designs for places across Scotland.

The majority of our work is for public bodies, housing associations and community organisations. We have a long list of clients from a variety of sectors including housing associations, developers, housebuilders, development agencies and local authorities. We have a reputation for dealing with complicated sites and creating beautiful, efficient projects on the tightest of budgets.

Accredited in Sustainable Design and Conservation

We are the only company to have both directors accredited in sustainable design by the RIAS. John Gilbert is one of six with advanced accreditation. Matt Bridgestock is a chartered town planner and a certified Passivhaus designer. John Gilbert is also accredited in conservation architecture by the RIAS.

We have six team members including four architects. Our main office is based on Glasgow Green in the east end of Glasgow. Our Edinburgh office is in Portobello.
