In 2019, John Gilbert Architects were commissioned to write a follow-up pamphlet to set out a range of policy proposals which could be actioned by Scottish Government and other agencies to provide the winder context within which these efforts could be best supported.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Specifically, these measures would help:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>ensure Scotland meets its own targets for carbon reduction, health and well-being and economic development<\/li>\n<li>more effectively achieve energy efficiency (reduce carbon emissions and fuel poverty)<\/li>\n<li>safeguard the comfort and health of people in their own homes<\/li>\n<li>safeguard the condition of building fabric generally, and Scotland\u2019s built heritage<\/li>\n<li>Within the current context of national infrastructure status and spending, these 15 proposals would lead to a shift in focus from quantity to quality in retrofit practice, which may cost more in the short term in order to save disproportionately large sums in the long term.<\/li>\n<li>This pamphlet complements the original guide and will be of interest to anyone involved in energy, health and housing \/ built environment at a policy or regulatory level, as well as those who procure and design retrofit projects in public and private section organisation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>It is downloadable for free from the link below,\u00a0while the original guide is downloadable for free from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepebbletrust.org\">The Pebble Trust<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seda.uk.net\/design-guides\">Scottish Ecological Design Association websites<\/a>.
