Campbeltown THI / CARS

The Campbeltown Townscape Heritage Initiative and CARS scheme led to an investment of £2.2 million to help in the maintenance and repair of properties within the area. John Gilbert Architects were appointed by Argyll and Bute Council in 2012 to provide a Maintenance Guide for the THI area. As common ownership was a stumbling block to getting repairs done, the guide provided information about the legal divisions of ownership for tenements; how to gain agreement with fellow owners; how to raise finance for repairs and where to get help.

JGA was later appointed by the Kintyre Amenity Trust to act as conservation architects for the conversion of a redundant schoolhouse into a bunkhouse.
