JGA was appointed by North Lanarkshire Council to provide a specialist conservation architectural consultancy services to support the delivery of the Coatbridge Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS).
The work entailed the external inspection of all the buildings within the CARS area. Following two open days held in the local library, owners and shopkeepers were encouraged to submit expression of interest forms if they were interested in applying for a grant to repair or improve their shopfront or building.
Drawings were then prepared for selected shops to show how the frontages could be improved, the approximate cost of doing so, and the likely level of grant that the work might attract.
Owners, shopkeepers and businesses will be preparing their own detailed proposals and obtaining tender costs before submitting their proposals for final approval. JGA has been retained by the Council as their advisors.
JGA was also appointed to design and specify streetscape improvement works to a number of small lanes and passages that led from a new car park area into the main street.
