100 new energy-efficient homes on a long, narrow site. West Whitlawburn Co-op’s first new build project meets a need for family housing and balances the existing stock of high rise flats. This long, narrow site has a landscaped burn which forms the focus of the eastern side. A series of open areas, or village greens, highlights the main pedestrian routes across the site.

A mix of semi-detached and terraced homes with higher than standard levels of insulation and generous room sizes. Five of the largest houses have solar water heaters complementing the gas boilers. These homes will be part of a monitoring scheme to test efficient use of renewable energy. Meets Secured by Design standards.
